Say No to Plastic
A country that relies on its natural beauty for survival needs more rigid environmental laws. Plastic bags should be banned from been used in Maldives. It has been done in many places where environment conservation is important.
We are country where our seas provide us without taking anything back from us. A plastic bag entangled in a coral would take 10,000 years for it to disintegrate.
A transition should be made from plastic bags to paper bags. Used news papers can be used to make these recyclable paper bags. We are re-cycling and at the same time and protecting our environment.

President Nasheed: Blabbering with no regard to consequences
Two remarks that are out of context.
1. As a president he should not claim that mostly all students in Pakistan are indoctrinated by Taliban. He had no regard to the safety of those student who are currently in Pakistan, where the terrorist issue is very serious. If any harm befalls a Maldivian student in Pakistan, President Nasheed has to bare the consequences and take full responsibility of igniting this suspicion against them.
2. Again President Nasheed claims that there could be a link between the terrorists who attacked Mumbai and some Maldivians. With or without any facts, as the President of Maldives this is not something he should be proudly advertising to the media. There is no fact supporting his claim. The Indians are very sensitive to this tragedy still, why invoke unnneccessary suspicion and hatred towards thousands of Maldivians who are living in India?
These comments suggest that his interviews were not well thought through and he is very unprofessional when dealing with the press. We all know he could be awkward and boisterous, but as a President I voted for, I do not want to hear utter stupidity from him.
President Nasheed should make a public apology to all the Maldivian students in Pakistan, and also to the Maldivians who live in India. He should also apologize to the general public for putting the safety of Maldivians and their dignity at risk with his comments.

Good Going HRCM & Minivan News
It's good to see the HRCM highlighting the religious extremist issue. Long has it been made to believe that a word against these extremists were a word against Islam, when in reality they have all gone astray from it.
In the meantime Minivan News is also doing great work in bringing the truth of extremism to light. Even after their editor was put under pressure by Adhaalath party, after an article conveying the conflicts in religious beliefs and human rights in Maldives, they have still continued their fight against illogical extremist thinking. Keep on the fight Minivan News, even though there are so much negativity associated with bringing these religious extremists issues out in the open, there also those of us who really appreciate the work you are doing. Because we will have positive outcomes in the future because of your work here.
My personal view is that Islamic extremism is like any other extremism. Its like any other anti-social behavior or disease. There's no difference between extremism and drug addiction.

Why Taliban Recruit from Maldives
Taliban have successfully been able to recruit and indoctrinate students who go abroad to study to Pakistan and middle east countries. Their work has been so successful that they now have ministers of other governments working for them, like the 'religious scholars' in Adhaalath Party.
Minister of Islamic affairs Dr Majeed and his close followers are carrying out the orders of their Mullahs in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The president of Maldives, Nasheed is unaware that the Taliban have infiltrated the current government of Maldives. The Adhaalath party's first orders from the Mullah of Taliban were to introduce shariah laws to Maldives at all costs. Which will allow them to conduct acts of terror easily from Maldives.
Why would the Taliban want to recruit from Maldives?
1. They want world dominance obviously, they seek a reign of terror. (Maldives is not the only place they have inflitrated, they are all over the world).
2. If they have followers in Maldives they do not need to hijack planes and attack all the way to United States like in 2001, Maldives is a hub for tourists from all over the world so they can just attack the tourists who come here more easily.
3. They already have a unsuspecting network of Taliban agents in Maldives because Maldives is a 100% Muslim, and years of hard work brainwash their students who went to these "madrasas" have paid off.
4. Maldives has been carefully conditioned so that religion issues bring fear and doubt to the people, makes it easier for the Taliban agents Dr. Majeed and co to manipulate.
5. The first terror attack was successful even though they used a homemade nail bomb. It has showed the Mullahs that their followers are effective in a country like Maldives where resources are limited, and showed it would be easy for them to attack their "enemies" since this is a tourist country.
This is a serious issue, which the current government has to think about in regards to national security and international concerns from other countries. They cannot afford to have these Adhaalath party having a hand in the politics or the government of Maldives, religion should stay out of politics so that these terrorist extremists cannot make their influences in a country. President Nasheed, our country's tourism will fail once other country's see that Maldives is becoming an extremists hub where the Taliban have infiltrated successfully. The consequences of this would be preposterous.

President Nasheed's interview with Times of India
The pro-active efforts by the current government of Maldives are paying off. The 350 campaign has not only opened a platform for raising climate change awareness, it allows all people of Maldives to experience the unity of belonging to a nation. It shows us that change is a good thing. We have all been too divided with the aftermath of our still on going political upheaval.
Most importantly a pro-active campaign has allowed the current government to still remind the international arena that we have recently gained democracy and are still in the process of reestablishing a stable administration and economy.
This is an interview of President Nasheed's during his visit to India...

The Day I Dreaded
Adhaalath is showing it's potential for destroying society of Maldives. It's clear that they do not accept the fact that Shariah laws implemented in our society will lead to contradictions and turmoil in our country. Because the leaders of Adhaalath do not think with logic or the intelligence given to them by Allah, instead they ignite the dream shared by their masters, the Taliban Mullahs in Afghanistan, who are also trying to impose shariah law into a sovereign Pakistan.
If any one, blogger or journalist says anything of the sort in this context, we are labeled as infidels or kaafarun. This is the culture used by the oppressing extremist mullahs of all generations, to use fear and blackmail to control people. Maldivians should ask themselves, just like they condemn drug addiction, violence, rape, theft,...why do they want to tolerate this bunch of ignorant fools who calls themselves the Adhaalath party who are an equally negative social element. I pray the MP's have the guts to stand up for the future of our people and shrug off the label "sheikh" Hussain Rasheed is trying to put on those who do not support this bill.
We are democratic country. We need tourism to support our lives, so we have to sell alcohol and keep our views moderate in order to not scare away the tourists. We have a judicial still rotting with corruption of the former regime, we do not want the hands of innocent people being cut off because our judicial is impotent. Our police and state resources are unable to convict people with excruciating evidence for murder or violence. Just imagine the people who will be framed, or given a death sentence by mistake because our prosecutors and police are yet incapable of proving crimes in our courts.
We are still a young democratic country, learning to respect human rights laws and trying to get international attention to tackle our environmental and economic problems. Maldivians must be prepared to live like the tribal people of Talibans in the desert if the shariah laws are accepted in our society. Because none of the international agencies or any democratic peace loving country will support us anymore. Whether we like it or not we will be seen as a hub that creates extremist terrorism. That's the fact of all extremist organizations, especially those Talibans who have showed that they use religion as a tool to control people, brainwash youngsters to go and commit suicide in the name of holy war.
I do not want my country to regress into a primitive, backward and stupid society. We worked very hard to get democracy into this country so everyone has equal rights and live a good life. Anyone who have read my view of the former government would know that I'm really against Maumoon and all my life have opposed him in anyway I can.
But this is something I thought I would never say in my life..
If President Nasheed does not control the voices of the Adhaalath party, I'm going to vote for Maumoon or DRP in the next upcoming election. Because I truly believe that Maumoon cannot make this country worse than he has made it in the last thirty years, but Adhaalath party can destroy our country completely with these stupid and out dated ideas.
Because implementing shariah law does not make us better people, it's who we are inside that matters. I would prefer to live in a country that focuses on achieving equality and freedom, rather than one that creates fear, doubt and turmoil in our infant democratic society.
